    Data Analytics Specialist

    I build data-driven software for internal clients across the company: a task arrives as a need, and how it gets solved is mine to decide. Right now that means bringing in Airflow to replace the legacy orchestrator — at volumes where scheduling and the order of dependencies stop being a detail. All of it happens in an air-gapped environment, where every library and every image gets there deliberately rather than through a single install command. Each pipeline also comes with a view of its own state — cut off from the outside, the only signal that something has stalled is the one I put there myself.

    I prepared car-part pricing data for a damage-estimating system: the prices were set by manufacturers and suppliers in Austria, Germany and Bulgaria, and their files arrived in as many formats as there were senders — my part was bringing them into a single standardised one. Around forty files a week, each with its own loading deadline, so the schedule mattered as much as the transformation did. When a source turned out to be incomplete or stopped being updated, I contacted the supplier directly and sourced a replacement. The repeatable part of that process I moved into internal tools; some of them outgrew my own team and ended up running in other departments. That is where working with data became writing the software for it.

    Planner

    I trained customers on card payment terminals in Poland, England and Ireland, and between the sessions I coordinated the orders and the deliveries: where a given terminal had got to, and what to do when it stalled. The managers wanted to know how well the training worked, so the reporting on it became mine — Excel, and the first time analysing data was part of the job.
